The details of criteria are followings.
Have completed an accredited or recognized engineering education program or be recognized as equivalent.
a) P.E. JP who graduated from an engineering program for bachelor’s degree or Master’s
degree or from an equivalent program accredited by the Japan Accreditation Board for Engineering Education (JABEE), or
b) P.E.JP who graduated from an engineering course of the universities authorized under the School Education Law and passed 1st stage PE Exam, or
c) P.E.Jp who is judged to meet the above academic requirements by the Monitoring Committee.
Have gained a minimum of seven years practical experience since graduation. An applicant who has completed an engineering educational program of Bachelor degree or an equivalent program is required to have a minimum of seven year practical experience after the graduation in the IntPE discipline to which he/she wishes to be registered. A minimum of seven years practical experience after 1st-stage PE Exam or 2nd-stage PE Exam is required for the others.
Have spent at least two years in responsible charge of significant engineering work.
Have maintained his/her continuing professional development (CPD) at a satisfactory level.
a) For initial registration, 100 CPD hours are required during a period of two years until March of the year when the application is submitted.
b) For renewal, 250 CPD hours are required during a period of five years until March of the year when the application is submitted.
c) For the retroactive renewal applications submitted within one year from its expiry date, 300 hours are required during a period of six years until March of the year when the application is submitted.
