Code of Ethics for Professional Engineers

[Preamble]
Professional engineers shall fully recognize that science and technology have a significant impact on society and the environment, and shall contribute to the realization of a sustainable society through the performance of their duties.
In order to fulfill their mission, Professional Engineers shall strive to improve their integrity as Professional Engineers, to study technology, to comply with this Code of Ethics from an international perspective, and to act fairly and honestly.

[Basic Principles]

(Priority of the public interest)
1. the Professional Engineer shall give the highest priority to the safety, health and welfare of the public.
(Ensuring sustainability)
2. Professional engineers shall strive to ensure the sustainability of society for future generations, including preservation of the global environment.
(Emphasis on competence)
3. Professional engineers shall perform work within the scope of their competence and shall not engage in work that they are not confident in.
(Ensuring truthfulness)
4. Professional engineers shall use objective and factual information in reports, explanations, or presentations.
(Fair and Honest Performance)
5. The professional engineer shall faithfully perform the work entrusted to him or her based on fair analysis and judgment.
(Confidentiality)
6. The professional engineer shall not divulge or divert secrets obtained in the course of his/her duties without justifiable reason.
