History of IPEJ

Jun. 1951
"The Gijutsushikai" (Japan Consulting Engineer Association, JCEA, IPEJfs previous English appellation ) was founded to promote establishment of professional engineers framework in Japan.

May 1957
Enforcement of the PE Law - "Gijyutsushi Law" (Law No.124/1957)
The first PE law was established in May 1957, and the Gijutsushikai was authorized under the Law.

Jul. 1958
The first examination of PE was carried out.

Mar.1959
"The Gijutsushikai" (Japan Consulting Engineer Association, JCEA) was authorized under the PE Law .

Apr. 1983
Amendment of the PE Law (Law No. 25/1983)

Feb. 1984
"The Gijutsushikai" was designated based on the Law as the Examination and Registration Organization, which conducts clerical work with respect to the implementation of the Professional Engineer Examination and to the registration of P.E.Jp..

Apr. 2000
Amendment of the PE Law (Law No. 48/2000)

Nov. 2000
Implementation of APEC Engineer assessment and registration

Jan. 2001
The English name of the Gijutsushikai was changed to gThe Institution of Professional Engineers, Japan ( IPEJ )h after  amendment of the Law in April 2000.

Apr. 2006
APEC Engineer assessment and registration expanded to all Technical Disciplines and Optional Subjects.

May 2007
New logo announced.
